Happy Winter Solstice everyone ! As a Sun Printer I am a bit obssessed with the Sun as it is necessary to create the fabulous Sun Prints I make Particularly the wet cyanotype and soap suds prints I started making them during Lockdown at the end of March when the days are starting to be at their longest Today marks the slight shift from the shortest day back towards the days lengthening So lets celebrate the sun today but roll on March 2021

I just want to say a BIG Merry Xmas to all the people who have supported me this tricky year I really appreciate your help and Sales have been amazing I enjoyed making cards this year out of sun prints that didnt quite make the grade as prints or cards wanting to recyle and repurpose as much as I could

Art Bank Pop up Exhibition

I am one of the visiting Artists in The Artbank 58-60 Fore Street Totnes as part of the South Street Collective From 2 December - 12 December 2020 I will be there Friday 11 December on the morning shift so you can come and ask me about my sunprinted work

Quarantine Craft Fair

 Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 November are the days to go to Instagram to see the @quarantinecraftfair  I am taking part with 12 other makers lost of exciting work to see and buy 

Purchasing is directly from the makers and you can talk to them as well if you have any questions just like a real Craft Fair. This is me with a few of my lampshades !!

Sun Printed Lamp Shade Workshop

 Next Saturday 17 October is my first date for a Sun Printed Handmade Lampshade 

workshop for this autumn , all made possible with the use of my trusty Sun Bed 

Small numbers only 20 cm or 30 cm Lamp Shades 

sun printed with your own design in the morning , followed by demonstrations 

and guidance to make it into your own unique Lampshade in the afternoon 

Cost for the day £85 

If you wish to make another lampshade there is an extra cost

Anna Atkins- an influence on my work

 One of the biggest influence on my work is that of pioneer photographer Anna Atkins who was the first woman photographer in 1840's using Cyanotype to record Seaweeds, I have taken her work a step further to Cyanotype seaweed onto fabric the  to make it into a Lamp Shade. Sunday 27 September is World Cyanotype day so watch this space as we will all be celebrating Cyanotype and how much we love it !

Just introducing myself for new followers from Facebook and Web sites 
I am Bridget I do Sun printing onto Textiles using cyanotype chemicals, plants and sunshine to create unique prints that I then make into lamp shades , lanterns  and lately face masks.

Plant Identification

I have discovered that I have Poison hemlock growing in my garden it makes lovely Sun prints with very delicate leaves and flowers it grows 1.5 - 2.5 metres high All parts of it are poisonous so it is good to learn about this plant

I got a fabulous commission to make a Cow Parsley 30 cm Lamp Shade to remind someone of the Devon banks at this time of the year, I think its captured  by the Sun Printing rather well , now inspired to make some more !

Having the time to look closely and research I have learnt that the fabulous Umbel out now is Cow Parsley or Queen  Anne's Lace. It flowers April - June plenty of time for me to make new books, prints, cards and maybe even a lamp shade or two !

No Lamp Shade Workshops

I was so pleased to get this lovely review about a lamp shade workshop I ran just before we were told to stay at home , I am so pleased that I did as gives good memories and it cheered me up so much !
