Silk Painting Workshop

I am now starting to get in the swing of teaching at home a much larger group this time with a wide range of abilities from very experienced to beginner , all good fun and some fantastic work created yet again

Bovey Tracey Youth Cafe Bunting

An evening spent in the Youth Cafe over half term , which was a little quiet by all accounts , but we still managed to get some Bunting made out of crisp packets with sewn on additions of their own choice BTYC standing for Bovey Tracey Youth Cafe of course !

I was impressed that the boys also knew how to sew , mainly having been taught but their grandmas - good stuff !

Mythic Garden

Monday morning at the Mythic Garden near Chagford. I went with Michael White,Chairman of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen, to help give June Ashburner some advice about becoming a Charity  - a rather grey wet day for a walk around the Arboretum but at least the rain held off until after we left.
The trees look wonderful still, even without their leaves.

I love the reflections in the water, but I was also amazed by the number of Sculptures still there left behind by the artists.

Silk Painting Workshop

The Next Silk Painting is on Wednesday 23rd March to see whether I can get more people during the week onto courses as there are never enough Saturdays in the month !
This first session at my studio went really well and a good time was had by all.

Gill created a beautiful shawl with butterflies these photos actually don't do it justice !

Great Social Media Course

Devon Guild of Craftsmen held a free Social Media course on Wednesday I learnt so much and the speaker is great. Kate works for Cosmic www.cosmic.org.uk and she is a lovely dynamic lady who manged to explain all those new words like Tweetdeck  and that have developed in a way even I could understand !

So now I am going to start Tweeting as well ! With my Bunting as the subject to see what I can find out there !

Last Outside the Lines

What a shame it was only for 2 weeks , such a lovely group and it felt like we had just got started, again some great paintings were created - hopefully I will get the chance to do some more courses after September.

Firing Up!

Finally I visited my placement College for The Firing Up Project . (see previous blogs) So I arrived in Tavistock after a foggy drive over the moors, which brought back memories of driving to Princetown a few years ago now.

Great to get some residency dates sorted and look at the space and equipment . The school seem really keen, so its great to start the ball rolling ! Hurrah

Fun Forum

I went and did a stand at a Fun Forum with the Town Council in Bovey Tracey Primary School just to try and let parents know that the Bunting project is taking place and to give the children  a quick opportun ity to have a go. the picture was taken before the children arrived - then no time to take a photo !

Outside the Lines

I started doing 'Outside the lines 'Family Workshops at Plymouth College of Art Saturday Art Club , 4-8 year olds with their parents we did Dragons for the Chinese New Year which was on February 3rd

They created some really fabulous paintings !!

Micro Kiln

At last my Micro Kiln has arrived so time to play

I think it might take a while to get it right though !

Bunting Opportunity

I will be attending the Town Council Fun Forum meeting on Wednesday 9th February 2-4pm at Bovey Tracey Primary School, so it is a chance ot get more young families involved in the Community in several different ways - to have a say about the Town Plan , make some bunting and particapate in the Community Mosaic.

Silk Painting

I have added another date for Silk Painting due to high demand  so that Saturday 19th February is also available for people to come and do have a relaxing day in my home with other like minded people. 10.30 - 3.30 Cost to include Lunch £20
